NFL projection model: Ranking all 32 rosters ahead of the draft | The Athletic
30. New York Giants. Two teams rank worse for 2024, but I think the Giants might be in the worst shape for the future. The Giants have paid a QB, who isn’t the answer, a ton of money, and they don’t have a pick to draft one of the top prospects in this year’s draft. They could move up to get one, but if they don’t, I suppose wide receiver makes the most sense.

NFL Draft 2024: Joe Schoen, NY Giants still keeping everyone guessing | The Record
The more I’ve seen covering the Giants, the more I believe a consistent and sound process yields more hits than misses. Gettleman’s biggest issue was his process or lack thereof - it was chaos, at times short-sighted and a bit ego driven. For Jerry Reese, the plan post-Super Bowl XLVI became too stagnant, too stubborn. The Giants found Jason Pierre-Paul a certain way, fell in love with the height-weight-speed profile and let that steer the evaluation.
The best compliment I can give Schoen through two drafts is that, from a process perspective, he’s built a system with the Giants that puts the organization in position to make sound decisions in a quick and reasoned manner.
Grading Every NFL Team’s Offseason Before the 2024 Draft | Bleacher Report
New York Gants: B+
This year, general manager Joe Schoen took a very different approach. The roster looks a lot different than it did a year ago, and for the better. Devin Singletary is a sneaky-good backfield addition, and the roster improved in some other key areas. Jon Runyan and Jermaine Eluemunor should help solidify an offensive line that was a major liability in 2023 (85 sacks allowed), and acquiring Brian Burns for second- and fifth-round picks was a master stroke.
The big question now is whether the Giants stick with Jones or try landing a quarterback prospect like LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy or Oregon’s Bo Nix in the draft.
‘Fitball’ vs. Football: Giants defense looks to strike a balance | Giants.com
Some defenses play football. Others opt for fitball. The good ones find the right balance.
“You can play fitball and everybody is in their A-gap, B-gap, setting their arm and playing fundamentally sound defense,” linebacker Bobby Okereke said on the first day of the offseason workout program. “And you can play football, where everybody is playing physical and violent and coming downhill...It’s a dance obviously. It takes both.”

25. New York Giants: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State. There are things to work on here — Porter was a handsy and physical player in college, and some of that translated to the league in a negative way (12 penalties last year). However, Porter was still very tough to crack in coverage and should shave off some of those penalties with experience.

Giants have had no contract talks with Darius Slayton | Pro Football Talk
General Manager Joe Schoen said that “we haven’t had conversations about any type of extension” with the receiver and noted that Slayton signed a two-year deal with the team ahead of the 2023 season. Schoen also pointed out that the work right now is voluntary and that he’s been in contact with Slayton’s agent about the situation.
“I understand where he’s coming from, that’s his prerogative to not be here,” Schoen said.
Surprise Players Who Could Be Available After 2024 NFL Draft | The 33rd Team
Darius Slayton has seemingly been in this position every year with the Giants. Yet, the former fifth-round pick continues to find himself in a key role. The 27-year-old could have value for a team needing a secondary deep threat on the outside.
The Giants are another team that will need to open up cap space to sign its draft class. Moving on from Slayton would open up $3.8 million in cap space for a release or trade before June 1 or $6.4 million after.
