Check In

The check-in desks in Terminal 2 are located on the upper level of the Terminal. Find airlines leaving fromTerminal 2.

As a general guide:

  • Manchester Airport would advise passengers to arrive at check-in at least 90 minutes prior to European flights and 3 hours for long-haul flights

  • Please consult with your airline for check-in times for your flight as times vary.

  • Some airlines also offer an evening-before bag drop service

Self-service online check-in and bag drop

  • A number of airlines offer self-service check-in kiosks and internet check-in technologies.

  • Airline employees should be on hand if you require any assistance with the self-service kiosks.

  • Passengers can check in their check-in luggage at check in area – either with an airline customer bag drop desk, or at the self-service bag drop kiosks.

Online check-in passenger information

Online check-in passengers must proceed through security screening areas as normal.

  • Please allow plenty of time to proceed through security screening.

  • Please refer to the flight information screens located after security screening throughout the shopping and boarding areas.

  • These screens list flight departures for your destination, boarding time and gate number.

Security at T2

Security in Terminal 2 is located after zone E on the upper level of the Terminal.

To make your journey as smooth as possible and avoid unnecessary delays, we ask that you pay special attention to our security procedures. Your carry-on luggage will be checked by means of detection equipment and may also be subject to a hand search. This is to ensure that you are not carrying any potentially dangerous substances or items that could pose a risk to the passengers and crew or to the security and safety of the aircraft.

Smoking Area

The smoking area is located on level upper level of the departure lounge, this can be accessed via the escalators or lifts in the central area opposite World Duty Free.

Multi-Faith Prayer Room

The Multi-Faith Prayer Room in Terminal 2 is situated next to the Apiary. The purpose of this facility is to allow people of all faiths, religions and spirituality have a sanctuary to retreat to. However, it is important to note that the users of this facility will be from many culturally diverse backgrounds and some basic guidelines should be followed when using the prayer room.

Please read the following guidelines carefully and take care to be aware of the religious sensibilities of others, which may be very different to your own.

  • Availability - 24 hours a day

  • The Multi-Faith Room should be considered a quiet space so all mobile phones to be switched off upon entry

  • Please remove your shoes and leave in the shoe rack

  • There are mats available for praying or alternatively you can use the chairs provided

  • Please do not place any notices in this space

Baby Changing Facilities

You will find many baby changing rooms throughout the Terminal where you can change your child undisturbed. These are located

either inside or nearby the main toilets.

Passengers with reduced mobility

If you have booked assistance, please make your way to our special assistance reception desk located within the Terminal building.

Special assistance reception point are located by the dedicated drop-off point on the forecourt. Please use the intercom to speak to a member of staff and somebody will assist you. Alternatively, you can make your own way to the Terminal, where the special assistance reception desk in located by Zone 2.

Changing Places/ Adult Change

We have two adult Changing Places located in the Check-in hall and Departure Lounge These facilities are available for all departing passengers and include an adjustable bed that lowers to ground level, a hoist and flexible wash basins, within a large wash room.

Changing Places are free to use and do not need to be pre-booked. There is a phone adjacent to the facility to use to call to gain access. These facilities are clearly sign posted.

Terminal 2 upper forecourt is conveniently located next to the main check-in hall.

To access the upper forecourt, exit the M56 at Junction 5 and keep left up the slip road, following the signs for Terminal 2. At the first roundabout, at the top of the slip road, take the 2nd exit, signposted for Terminal 2. At the second roundabout (Flag Island) take the third exit, signposted for T2 ‘Drop Off’. Take the ramp up to the forecourt, which is conveniently located next to the main check-in hall.

There is a dedicated drop-off point on the forecourt located in Zone 2.

Terminal 2 pick-up will be located on L0 of the Terminal 2 West Multi-Storey Car Park.
