It has been exactly one year since Skyrim was released, and we have seen some amazing mods popping up since then, and 8 game updates have been released by Bethesda, which is quite a lot compared to their previous games - whether it is because they want us to have the best game possible or just because the game had so many problems to start with doesn't really matter, we got the updates. Two DLCs; Dawnguard and Hearthfire, and another DLC on the horizon; Dragonborn. We have gotten quite a lot already, and it doesn't look like Bethesda is stopping there either.

So, what are your thoughts on the game now, compared to back then? Has it been improved? Do you still find it entertaining to play? Are you satisfied with the DLCs they give us?

    - Personally, I still find it entertaining, but I can't seem to play it in great lengths like I could and still can with Morrowind, which might be because Skyrim is a bit too realistic... But add a few mods, and the great experience is back again! So, what mods do you find to be essential to your game, and if you had to choose one mod, which mod is the best in your opinion?

About Skyrim feeling a bit *too* realistic and Morrowind being fundamentally more fun; I have a theory: it's all about jumping.

In Morrowind, not only could one levitate, but one could fortify one's jumping so that one could cross Balmora without touching the ground - and that's without spells or mods. In Oblivion that was seriously weakened, but athletics and acrobatics were still trainable. In Skyrim, running and jumping don't get better at all.

I love graphics and immersion mods, new and exotic and even lore-unfriendly armour, PC vanity mods by the dozen, but the most important thing to me is how it feels to move around in the game. I want to jump over enemies' heads and hit them in the back sometimes. I want to leap over rivers instead of wading. Any game where jumping is weak or nonexistant doesn't have a place on my desktop.

the first Halo game one could jump around like a super soldier should be able to = way more FUN than it's sequels. I appreciate that those games and the Elder Scrolls are improving in aesthetics and combat mechanics, but the better the fields look, the more my Dovahkiin wants to skip through them instead of padding heavily. The smarter and shinier the enemies, the more my Dovahkiin wants to dodge and then pounce on them.

in summary: One small step for man - one giant leap for his avatar.

It's hard to choose just one mod... vanilla Skyrim has too many basic design features that make the game unplayable for me without tweaking.

I'd say the top three are the timescale moving far too quickly, the vanilla world map not showing over 40% of the actual roads and being inaccurate about many others, and the quest updates in the journal being so vaguely described that it's literally not possible to find the objective without following the arrow.

That's three mods already that I wouldn't play the game without, or at least I wouldn't enjoy it much. I think I could probably dispense with all my other mods -- well over 100 -- and still want to play, but those aren't the only things that I find frustrating, just the ones that are intolerable to me.

I've never felt any need to add new houses and armors and dungeons to my game. I don't even use many texture replacers or graphical enhancers. I read all these comments from people saying the one mod they cannot live without is something like "Sexy Body Replacer" or a mod that adds extra hairs. How can it possibly make that much difference in your game if your character's shape is a few pixels wider or slimmer? How can the whole game be unplayable for you because of your character's HAIR? Are you (censored) kidding me?

I'll stop here because I've just typed and then deleted at least three or four uncalled-for personal attacks while trying to express how completely (censored) unimportant a (censored) body replacer is to the overall scope of the experience of Skyrim. Arghhhhh! (censored) (censored) (censored)!

(deep breath) I suppose we all love the game for our own reasons, and the people who somehow couldn't have fun playing without a certain hairstyle probably think I've got a stick up my butt for even noticing what time of day it is in Skyrim, let alone caring about it to the point where having a full day go by in 10 minutes of play ranks as my number-one pet hate. To each her own. (Seriously, though, HAIR?!?!)

In my view Skyrim doesn't need extra content and it's beautiful as it is. It just needs basic gameplay tweaks to suit my particular playstyle.

I was bored of Skyrim within 3 days of playing, I only check back here once and a while due to the fact that no one releases anything for Oblivion, which is far better than Skyrim ever was. When I first played Skyrim I couldn't believe how unfinished it felt, I also didn't understand how it would win any awards. I came to the assumption that people are paid to say good things about it. It's a pretty game, but thats all it had going for it.

The lack of well thought questlines with memoriable characters are what destroyed the game for me. A beautiful world means nothing, if there is nothing to make it feel alive. Also, perks are boring, the stats/skills have been watered down so badly that the game isn't even unique or fun anymore. Skyrim does nothing groundbreaking, and therefore is not memorable to me. It adds nothing new to the series that hasn't already been done better by its previous titles.

No mods were able to save it for me, I thought Vilja might be the one thing that saved it. But I was heartbroken to see how boring and bland Vilja was to her Oblivion counterpart. She no longer says something new, but rather repeats the same five comments, or just repeats what I've heard her say in Oblivion.

I'm not the least bit impressed by it's DLC's, none of them come close to offering the amount of content that Shivering Isle's did for Oblivion or Bloodmoon for Morrowind. I'm not amused by the exclusitivity crap going on with the Xbox 360, also the way that Playstation 3 players are being left in the dust. No, this isn't the same company that I loved.

((This is all based on my opinion, I am not trying to force it upon anyone else, or expect anyone to agree with me.))

Most essential mod is SkyUI, hands down.

Many, many hours of play. The best Mod to me must be Caliente's. If it weren't for that, I would probably have given up by now. I have at least 20 characters. I can't seem to be content with one. Skyrim one year anniversary! (31) 100+ mods and still looking for more. It seems to be a disease. I also like anything that makes the game look better. Really like the "Sexy series", Towns, Solitude, etc. I started Vilja's quest mod and I can't stop yet again. I recommend it to all!
Thanks Bethesda, and the modding community, and I look forward to new DLC's and maybe Elder Scrolls 6!

                                  Skyrim is a great game.

Skyrim with selected mods is even more awesome game.

I kept playing this game for 30 minutes a day. Thats 10 minutes longer than other games I played.Awesome, really.

I've played since November 12, 2011. I have half-completed the Companions quests, and just finished the civil war about two weeks ago. I have not completed the main quest (I've gotten up to the end of act II), and haven't even started any of the other guild quests. I have never been to the Morthal area (although I once quickly passed through along the coastline), nor have I been to the southern half of the reach, nor have I been in some of the mountainous areas around Winterhold. To be honest I've spent very little time in the northern and western parts of the map, yet I've clearly killed hundreds of hours.

Oh, I'm also on my first character. I'll make others in order to do the guilds quests and take the other side in the civil war. I'm a slow, no fast-travel player: if one character took me a year, two more could see me right up until TES VI, or at least Fallout V.

Currently, I am still enjoying the game. I recently bought this on PC after I have gotten all the achievements on Xbox 360. The mods here are incredible! I will continue to endorse the best mods I use and try every mod that sounds interesting to me.
