FREEMAN RODRICK MYERS It's with heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and friend on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the age of 92. Freeman will be greatly missed by his daughter Sandra (McCaughan), son-in-law Roland, grandson Rod, granddaughter Jackie and his friend and companion Pat Servatka. Freeman was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Caroline and his grandson Kevin. He also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews and friends from all walks of life. Freeman was born in Mowbray, MB and moved to Pilot Mound when he was 13 to work on the farm. He joined the army when he was 19 and served in the Second World War for five years overseas where he met and married Caroline. They lived in Pilot Mound until 1955 when he enlisted in the Air Force and served for 20 years retiring at 55. After retiring he worked at the St. James Legion as the Manager for 16 years. Freeman was a proud Mason, as a member of Sturgeon Creek Lodge and recently with Phoenix Lodge. In 1986 Freeman became a member of Khartum Shriners and devoted the next 27 years helping Shriners help Kids. Freeman remained active in the Shrine as a member of the Director Staff, making lifelong friendships along the way. He served many different offices within the Shrine and was honoured by being awarded the title of Director Emeritus for all his accomplishments. Many thanks to the CCU doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care and compassion shown to Freeman. Special thanks from the family to Faye and Jack Hooper for stepping up as family and looking after Freeman for us for the past two years. A service to celebrate Freeman's life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Victoria Inn, 1808 Wellington Avenue at 3:30 p.m. in the Wellington Room. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Khartum Transportation fund or a Charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

  • Our sincere condolences are extended to Freeman's daughter and family. As counterparts from different Shrine Centers we became fast friends. Freeman was an example of a true Master Mason.
