I find myself on an unexpected mission! Slowly, I’m collaborating with various teams in my business unit to open their minds to the power of digital skills and improve them in unique ways relevant to them. This morning, it was a pleasure to speak to my own team, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability! Digital literacy is akin to learning a language. Initially challenging, it becomes fluent over time. You don’t learn to read just to read 1 single book, you can read anything an pick up knowledge every time. Look at Digital skills in the same way, and unlock ways to enhance your workflow, foster creativity, and deliver value through whatever tool you use.Remember: you don’t know what you don’t know! Take a moment to reflect on your goals and explore the myriad ways you can improve.Reflecting back, 2.5 years ago, I delved into automation tools. However, at its core, this journey was about elevating my digital skills. The goal? Greater efficiency, reduced waste, and maintaining high standards using existing resources. We’ve successfully scaled our efforts, engaging over 1000 colleagues annually in volunteering and social impact through our Digital Inclusion Programme with the same resources. 🌟This is how I saved 40+ working days over 2.5 years.Ultimately, invest in yourself—it’s the best investment you can make!Bethan Richmond Dr James Robey Anastasia Womack

You know what they say, practice makes perfect. Using volunteering, I'm endeavouring to improve my communication skills with a focus on leadership.Based on 360 feedback and going on a recent professional development programme, an identified area of development is speaking with clarity... and essentially getting to the point!! 😅 SOOO.. I've signed up to volunteer with The Prince's Trust and use this opportunity to yes give back and inspire youngsters. BUT also a chance to practice... I'm going in super conscious about how I deliver my talk, how I connect with the audience and the impact. And that does not mean preparing lots of slides. I'm becoming anti-PowerPoint!Capgemini UK colleagues, reach out to me if you are looking for volunteering opportunities to develop or even learn new skills. Our programme is super focused around skills-based volunteering.

Have you turned down opportunities because you didn’t believe you could do it?I have. And for me the biggest challenge has been public speaking. I passed on so many. So, I was having a mini mid-course reunion chat with my Be The Future cohort and friends yesterday. We discussed limiting beliefs, doubt and overthinking situations. To the point where we create worst-case scenarios in our mind, try to think about ALL the elements too early on a task, and not embracing opportunities because of lack of belief and confidence. After Be The Future, a talent and leadership development programme, it certainly challenged us and our thinking. Pushed us out of our comfort zone…And all of us since then, shared a story where we did something we wouldn’t normally do.Demolish Doubt and Punch Perfection in the Face! 👊 Enjoy this classic!!!

No Code Automation is super powerful. 🚀 About 2.5 years ago I started using Microsoft Power Automate and it has transformed how I work. To date have saved something like 40 working days of routine processes. Making my workflow more efficient and scalable, ultimately delivering more impact. One such process was approval for volunteering requests from colleagues across the UK. Took around 2.5 days to research, learn and build the automated process. To date, it has saved me around 18-20 working days and counting AND has required no maintenance, has been running in the background ever since... well worth the investment of time. This afternoon... it was my absolute pleasure to coach and help a lovely colleague of mine build their own automated workflow. We spent 1.5hrs together. Saving them days of research, and then hopefully like it has for me days and weeks of routine process admin to come!I'm trying to use Gen AI to be part of my regular workflow but not quite cracked it yet.Bilyana Balkanska Michelle Perkins Bethan Richmond
