Memorial Day weather: Severe storms in Baltimore weather forecast

CHANGE WHEN THAT STORM STARTS TO COME THROUGH AVA AS THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING THAT YOU WANT TO BE MOST ON ALERT, BECAUSE WE ARE EXPECTING SOME STRONG THUNDERSTORMS LATER TODAY. IT’S GOING TO COOL DOWN THIS WEEK THOUGH, AS THE HIGHS DROP INTO THE 70S WITH A DROP IN HUMIDITY AND BY NEXT WEEKEND WE COULD SEE ALL DRY WEATHER, WHICH WE HAVEN’T HAD MANY WEEKENDS LIKE THAT SO FAR THIS YEAR TO TODAY THOUGH, YOU CAN SEE WE’RE IN THE YELLOW HERE ACROSS MARYLAND. THE EASTERN SHORE, THROUGHOUT THE BEACHES AS WELL. THESE ARE THE AREAS UNDER THE SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER. SO THAT’S LEVEL TWO WHERE WE’LL GET POTENTIAL FOR SCATTERED SEVERE WEATHER LATER TODAY. SO THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE SCATTERED DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THEY DON’T LAST THE ENTIRE TIME, BUT WHEN THEY PASS THROUGH, THEY COULD BE BRIEFLY STRONG. THERE MAY BE SOME DAMAGING WINDS, HAIL, OR EVEN AN ISOLATED TORNADO. SO ON A DAY LIKE TODAY, YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO BE ON ALERT AND HAVE A SAFETY PLAN IN MIND. IF A THUNDERSTORM IS COMING YOUR WAY, TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S AND THE 70S NOW, IT WOULD BE A NICE TIME TO GO OUT FOR A WALK. WE DID HAVE SOME RAIN OVERNIGHT, SO THE GRASS AND THE SIDEWALKS ARE WET, BUT WE’RE DRY NOW ACROSS THE BALTIMORE AREA YOU CAN SEE A LINE OF STORMS THOUGH, THROUGH WEST VIRGINIA, STRETCHING ALL THE WAY DOWN TO NORTH CAROLINA. AND THIS ACTIVITY WILL BE COMING OUR WAY. NOTICE HOW THERE’S EVEN THUNDERSTORMS POPPING UP AHEAD OF THAT IN PARTS OF THE CAROLINAS. SO THE ATMOSPHERE IS DEFINITELY MORE ACTIVE TODAY. WE’RE EXPECTING ONLY SPRINKLES BEFORE NOON TODAY, SO I KNOW THERE’S A LOT OF CEREMONIES HAPPENING BECAUSE OF MEMORIAL DAY. ANYTHING BEFORE NOON PRETTY SAFE. ANYTHING AFTER THAT. YOU WANT TO BE ON ALERT? I WOULDN’T CANCEL THINGS TODAY, BUT I WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE A SAFETY PLAN IN MIND. IF A THUNDERSTORM IS HEADING YOUR WAY, YOU WANT TO GET SAFELY INDOORS. NOTICE HOW THE STORMS ARE SCATTERED THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING, SO MIGHT BE A LITTLE HARDER TO COOK OUT TODAY. KNOWING YOU MAY HAVE TO HEAD INDOORS. AND WHAT IF IF THE STEAK ISN’T DONE YET? SO TODAY’S A LOT TOUGHER TO TRY TO DO THINGS OUTDOORS, BUT IT CAN BE DONE IN THE TIMES OF DRY WEATHER. SO I WOULD JUST BE ON ALERT THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING, WHEN WE’RE MORE LIKELY TO GET SOME OF THOSE STRONGER STORMS. TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE 70S THIS MORNING, NEAR 80 THIS AFTERNOON, AND THE HUMIDITY IS HIGH. SO THE ORIOLES GAME, WE ALSO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL KNOWING THERE COULD BE SOME THUNDERSTORMS AROUND DURING THE GAME, BUT NOT A GUARANTEE. IF THERE IS A STORM, IT COULD BE BRIEFLY STRONG, SO THERE’S AT LEAST A CHANCE FOR A RAIN DELAY TODAY. SEVEN DAY FORECAST TOMORROW. THE STORMS LOOK SPOTTY, SO THE GAME SHOULD BE FINE. WEDNESDAY. THERE ARE A FEW MORE STORMS WE’LL HAVE TO WATCH, BUT THEY DON’T LOOK SEVERE. IT DROPS INTO THE 70S THE REST OF THE WEEK. THE HUMIDITY IS MUCH LOWER, ESPECIALLY STARTING THURSDAY AND THE WEEKEND LOOKS REALLY NICE. WE COULD HAVE A CLEAN SLATE DRY WEATHER ALL WEEKEN
